 Lee Min Ho played the role of Kim Tan, the future heir to the Jeguk group. After The Heirs, he starred in the films  Gangnam Blues and Bounty Hunters. He also teamed up with top actress Jun Ji Hyun in the fantasy romance drama Legend of the Blue Sea.

The Hallyu star began his mandatory military service in May 2017 and completed it in April 2019. He will be having a small screen comeback this 2020 in the fantasy romance drama The King: Eternal Monarch which was also penned by The Heir writer Kim Eun Sook.

Park Shin Hye

Park Shin Hye had been to different dramas since The Heirs where she played the role of Cha Eunsang, a diligent daughter of a live-in housekeeper of the Kim family. She just completed a drama in 2019 entitled Memories of Alhambra and recently, it was announced that she would be joining Jo Seung Woo in JTBC’s sci-fi drama Sisyphus: The Myth.

Her past dramas after The Heirs include Pinocchio and Doctors. She also starred in several movies such as The Royal Traitor, My Annoying Brother, Heart Blackened, Call and #ALONE.

My Name is Kim Sam Soon

This 2005 hit drama with Kim Sun Ah made Hyun Bin a household name in South Korean. He played the role of Hyun Jin Heon, a son of wealthy hotelier who keeps on setting him on matchmaking dates. To stop his mother meddling on his love life, he hired Kim Sam Soon (Kim Sun Ah), a loud and heavyset brokenhearted woman and his restaurant’s newly-recruit pastry chef, as his pretend girlfriend. Can you imagine what will happen next?

Secret Garden

Secret Garden was an international success giving Hyun Bin a resurgence of fame. In this 2010 drama, he played the role of Kim Joo Won, a handsome but conceited CEO of a high-end department store. He was partnered with Ha Ji Won who played the role of Gil Ra Im, a beautiful and humble stuntwoman. Joo Won has started being attracted to Ra Im with their tense and bickering relationship when a magical even happened resulted to their bodies being swapped. Hyun bin’s stellar portrayal as Kim Joo Won and Gil Ra Im earned him the Grand Prize (Daesang) for TV at the 47^th Baeksang Arts Award.

Hyde, Jekyll, Me

In 2015, Hyun Bin took a challenging role of Gu Seo Jin, a theme park director with a split personality  whose character is opposite of his cynical and cold-hearted persona. Both Seo Jin and his split personality grew attracted with Jang Ha Na, played by Han Jin Min, the new team leader of the underperforming circus in the theme park which Seo Jin wanted to close down. After receiving an email about an innovative augmented-reality video game, he went to Granade, Spain to meet its developer. There, he met Jung Hee Joo, played by Park Shin Hye, and their adventure between the real world and AR world began. If you are keen to Sci-Fi drama, you’ll surely enjoy the story of Memories of Alhambra, not to mention that Hyun Bin consistently exuded his charming mature visual in this TV series.

Reports confirmed that South Korean actress and singer IU will join the upcoming film Dream alongside with Park Seo Joon, whose casting was confirmed last year.

This will be the first commercial movie of IU since her debut in 2008 as a singer.

Dream will be directed by Lee Byung Hun, the same director behind the hit movie Extreme Job and JBTC’s drama Melo is My Nature.

While, according to reports, Seo Joon will be playing the role of a professional soccer player on a disciplinary action, no further details regarding IU’s role were revealed.

A few days after his contract with Blossom Entertainment expired, Song Joong Ki has signed with a new company, a startup agency called History D&C.  

The big news was announced by the agency itself on January 3 2019.

History D&C  signed a management contract with actor Song Joong-ki to announce a new start. We will do our best to help Song Joong-ki and History D&C  grow together with positive synergy.
 In 2020, Song Joong Ki will continue his acting career in Korea’s first Space SF Blockbuster The Victory and Bogota, which tells the story of Columbian immigrants in the 1990’s.

Song Joong Ki had been with the Blossom Entertainment since 2013 before moving to a new entertainment agency founded by Hwang Kiyong who had established a partnership with the top Korean actor after working on the projects like ‘The Innocent Man’, ‘Deep Rooted Tree’, and ‘Will It Snow for Christmas?’.

The year 2019 has been exciting for us, Pinoy Korean drama lovers,  as the Philippines has been visited by several Korean actors.

To relive those “omo!” moments, either because you were  truly lucky to meet them in the flesh or you were one of the many who were not able to fulfill their fangirling duties, here is the list of our Oppas who stepped in the Philippine soil this year:

1.     Park Hyung-sik

Local clothing brand, Bench, gifted KPop addicts with a post-Valentine’s Day fan meet with Park Hyung-sik on February 16 at the SM MOA Arena. The Strong Woman Do Bong Soon actor also held a Meet and Greet sessions at Trinoma and the Mall of Asia Music Hall on February 17.

2.     So Ji Sub

Filipino fans of So Ji Sub were serenaded by the Terius Behind Me actor at his “Hello, Manila” fan meet at the New Frontier Theater on March 16. So Ji Sub is already at his early 40s but with his charm, dazzling look, and knee-weakening voice, he still made his every fan swoon over him during the event.

3.     Seo Kang-Joon

Seo Kang-Joon visited the Philippines for the first time for a two-hour fan meet at the New Frontier Theater. The then 25-year old oppa who rose to fame with his role in Are You Human? played a couple of games with fortunate fans and serenaded everyone who were present on the venue on May 25.

4.     Park Bo Gum

The 26-year old heartthrob made his “Good Day” fan meet a great evening for his supporters at SM MOA Arena on June 22 as he made the event a mini concert. Aside from Question and Answer portion and close-up encounter with three luck fans, Park Bo Gum thrilled the attendees with his song and dance numbers. He even surprised his fans with short cover of Daniel Padilla’s “Nasa Iyo Na Ang Lahat”.

5.     Jung Hae In

The 31-year old actor who gained further popularity with his appearances in Guardian: The Lonely and Great God and While You Were Sleeping thrilled the Filipino fans who attended his “One Summer Night” event at the New Frontier Theater on September 28. Jung Hae In was very enthusiastic as he shared laughter, hugs, and selfies with his fans.   

6.     Park Seo Joon

Park Seo Joon visited the country on the third quarter of the year as a new endorser of Bench. The What’s Wrong with Secretary Kim male lead held a fan meet at the Mall of Asia Arena on September 29, two days after his arrival in the Philippines.

But before meeting thousands of his fans, Park made the best of his visit by strolling in the metro which can be watched in his vlog.

7.     Lee Dong Wook

Grim Reaper went back to the Philippines after 13 years to grace the #LoveKorea Culture and Tourism Festival on October 5. Lee Dong Wook went straight from the airport to SM Megamall Fashion Hall where fans were waiting for him.

8.     Lee Seung Gi

Airens in the Philippines finally met their oppa on October 21 at the New Frontier Theather. The 32-year old protagonist in the drama Vagabond did not disappoint his fans by giving them a night filled with kilig, fun, and songs.  

9.     Cha Eun Woo

One of the most memorable events of Korean stars in the Philippine this year was Cha Eun-Woo’s “Just One 10 Minute” as he surprised his fans with his version of “Kathang Isip”. Held on October 26 at the New Frontier Theater, the visual and face of Astro boy group further charmed the crowd by casually engaging with his fans and showing his enchanting smile.

10.  Park Hae Jin

Park Hae Jin held his one-day fan meet on November 23 at the New Frontier Theater. The event was originally scheduled on September 21 at the Smart Araneta Coliseum but was moved to a new venue and later date. The Korean actor is set to appear in a new drama entitled Secret in 2020.
