The 2019 period is almost over so we listed down some of the top Korean Dramas of the year. See if you have watched them already.

1.     Her Private Life

The 16-episode drama starred Park Min Young as a talented chief curator of Cheum Museum of Art while secretly fangirling a Kpop idol. Park was joined by Kim Jae-Wook who played as the new director of the said museum. The romantic-comedy series showed how a strict and mysterious boss turned to be a supportive boyfriend of a crazy fangirl.




2.     An Empress’s Dignity

Also known as The Last Empress, this TV series gave KDrama fans an alternate universe where South Korea still exercised constitutional monarchy. Jang Na-Ra played the role of Oh Sunny who married the emperor (Shin Sung Rok) while Choi Jin-hyuk acted as an imperial bodyguard who seeks vengeance on the imperial family. Because of the great plot and good portrayal of the actors, the drama, which is filled of action, drama, suspense and romance, was extended from 48 episodes to 52.




3.     The Light in Your Eyes

Aired from February 11 to March 19, 2019, The Light in Your Eyes follows the story of 25-year old Kim Hye-ja, played by Han Ji-min, who suddenly became a 70-year old woman before having the chance of fulfilling her dream of becoming an announcer. The female protagonist met Lee Joon-Ha, played by Nam Joo-Hyuk, who got frustrated with his life.




4.     Arthdal Chronicles

Arthdal Chronicles is a fantasy series starring Jang Dong-gun and Song Joong-Ki as mythical heroes in the ancient city of Arthdal. The drama which shows power struggles between the characters in the story is a three-part series, with each part having 6 episodes.



5.     Vagabond

Vagabond tells the story of a stuntman who aims to uncover the truth behind the plane crash that killed hundreds of innocent people, including his nephew. Together with Bae Suzy, Lee Sung-gi embarks on an extremely dangerous investigation where they discovered a tangled web of national corruption.




6.     When the Camellia Blooms  

This high rated mini-series starring Gong Hyo-jin and Kang Ha-neul is a story of a single mother who moved and put up a bar in a fictional province in South Korea and a policeman who instantly fell in love with her. Its outstanding production, realistic plot and impressive performance of the actors made the romance-comedy and thriller drama a huge success.




7.     Touch Your Heart

Yoo In-na and Lee Dong Wook reunited for this romantic-comedy series that follows the story of a very popular actress who aims to revive her career by working as a secretary of a prickly lawyer. The drama has a simple plot but really touches the hearts of KDrama lovers in the first quarter of the year.




8.     Hotel Del Luna

Hotel Del Luna is one of, if not the most, talked-about drama of 2019. IU plays the role of Jang Man-Wol, a CEO of a hotel that caters only to spirits who had unfinished business. After 1000 years of managing the guest house, she recruited Koo Chang-Sung (Yeo Jin-Goo) as the new human hotel manager who was believed to free Jang Man-Wol from the curse.

Our Oppas in Manila: Korean actors who visited PH in 2019




The year 2019 has been exciting for us, Pinoy Korean drama lovers,  as the Philippines has been visited by several Korean actors.

To relive those “omo!” moments, either because you were  truly lucky to meet them in the flesh or you were one of the many who were not able to fulfill their fangirling duties, here is the list of our Oppas who stepped in the Philippine soil this year:



1.     Park Hyung-sik

Local clothing brand, Bench, gifted KPop addicts with a post-Valentine’s Day fan meet with Park Hyung-sik on February 16 at the SM MOA Arena. The Strong Woman Do Bong Soon actor also held a Meet and Greet sessions at Trinoma and the Mall of Asia Music Hall on February 17.




2.     So Ji Sub

Filipino fans of So Ji Sub were serenaded by the Terius Behind Me actor at his “Hello, Manila” fan meet at the New Frontier Theater on March 16. So Ji Sub is already at his early 40s but with his charm, dazzling look, and knee-weakening voice, he still made his every fan swoon over him during the event.




3.     Seo Kang-Joon

Seo Kang-Joon visited the Philippines for the first time for a two-hour fan meet at the New Frontier Theater. The then 25-year old oppa who rose to fame with his role in Are You Human? played a couple of games with fortunate fans and serenaded everyone who were present on the venue on May 25.




4.     Park Bo Gum

The 26-year old heartthrob made his “Good Day” fan meet a great evening for his supporters at SM MOA Arena on June 22 as he made the event a mini concert. Aside from Question and Answer portion and close-up encounter with three luck fans, Park Bo Gum thrilled the attendees with his song and dance numbers. He even surprised his fans with short cover of Daniel Padilla’s “Nasa Iyo Na Ang Lahat”.




5.     Jung Hae In

The 31-year old actor who gained further popularity with his appearances in Guardian: The Lonely and Great God and While You Were Sleeping thrilled the Filipino fans who attended his “One Summer Night” event at the New Frontier Theater on September 28. Jung Hae In was very enthusiastic as he shared laughter, hugs, and selfies with his fans.   




6.     Park Seo Joon

Park Seo Joon visited the country on the third quarter of the year as a new endorser of Bench. The What’s Wrong with Secretary Kim male lead held a fan meet at the Mall of Asia Arena on September 29, two days after his arrival in the Philippines.

But before meeting thousands of his fans, Park made the best of his visit by strolling in the metro which can be watched in his vlog.




7.     Lee Dong Wook

Grim Reaper went back to the Philippines after 13 years to grace the #LoveKorea Culture and Tourism Festival on October 5. Lee Dong Wook went straight from the airport to SM Megamall Fashion Hall where fans were waiting for him.



8.     Lee Seung Gi

Airens in the Philippines finally met their oppa on October 21 at the New Frontier Theather. The 32-year old protagonist in the drama Vagabond did not disappoint his fans by giving them a night filled with kilig, fun, and songs.  



9.     Cha Eun Woo

One of the most memorable events of Korean stars in the Philippine this year was Cha Eun-Woo’s “Just One 10 Minute” as he surprised his fans with his version of “Kathang Isip”. Held on October 26 at the New Frontier Theater, the visual and face of Astro boy group further charmed the crowd by casually engaging with his fans and showing his enchanting smile.



10.  Park Hae Jin

Park Hae Jin held his one-day fan meet on November 23 at the New Frontier Theater. The event was originally scheduled on September 21 at the Smart Araneta Coliseum but was moved to a new venue and later date. The Korean actor is set to appear in a new drama entitled Secret in 2020.
